Facility Usage
Who may use Camp Tyler?
Camp Tyler is primarily available for organized youth groups seeking educational or recreational camping experiences. Fees charged to these groups are based on the cost of operating and developing the camp to the benefit of these groups. However, as a means to support such programming the Camp Tyler Foundation will also consider, on a case by case basis, renting the camp facilities for other purposes. For more information please call 903.565.4475 or email Kathy@camptyler.org.
Sorry, we do not provide state park like camping or use of the facilities by the general public. There is public camping and picnicking available next door at the City of Tyler Concession #2 Park. Public camping facilities are also available at Tyler State Park on Highway 14 north of Tyler.
Scheduling Camp Use for Organized Groups
Start the process by calling the Camp Office (903) 565.4475. A tentative date will be selected and an application will be sent to you. Fill out the application and send it with the appropriate deposit to Camp Tyler Foundation, P.O. Box 1916, Whitehouse, TX 75791. No reservation is secure until the deposit has been received.
Before coming to camp, you will also need to download and reproduce the Assumption of Risk and Release form. You will need to have one filled out and signed for every camper, youth and adult, in your group. Bring these with you when you come to camp and give them to the person that is checking you in.
An invoice will be prepared from the information provided on your application. Payment is expected upon arrival unless other arrangements have been made.
About Liability Insurance
In addition to these required forms, please request a "Proof of Liability Insurance" form from your group's insurance carrier. By having your carrier list The Camp Tyler Foundation as "additional insured" on this form you will help us keep our cost down. Please see Sample of Certificate of Liability Insurance under CTF Forms. This is because our carrier determines our premium based on the number of uninsured camper days that we provide. Our liability insurance does not protect you, your other adult leaders or your organization. We recommend that you check with your organizations insurance carrier before taking children to camp to be certain that you are adequately protected.
